District Eleven Boundary |
The measure on the November 1999 ballot was voted on and accepted.
The measure defines the boundary of District Eleven by identifying the streets in
the City's charter and it clarifies Treasure Island as lying within the boundary of
District Six. This measure was brought to the attention of Tom Ammiano, President of the Board of Supervisors, by Steven Currier, President of the Outer Mission Residents Association. Supervisor Ammiano brought the measure to the board of Supervisors and it was unanimously voted upon to place it on the November 1999 ballot. |

$10,000 Reward |
This is a reward to be paid to persons who assist the S.F. Police
with information in the capture and conviction of the murderers of Rizalyne Melad. On Thursday, July 16, 1998, at 12:37 pm at Geneva Avenue and Madrid Street, Rizalyne Melad was struck by a car which fled the scene after causing injuries that cost Rizalyne her life. We are asking anyone with information about the hit and run vehicle to contact the S.F. Police Department Hit & Run Detail @ (415) 553-1641. The suspect's vehicle is an older model light blue four door compact or mid-size car with chrome or "silvering" on at least the left side. A possible license plate is "2GL-319" or "2LG-319". Witnesses believe that the two occupants of the vehicle are of light skinned complexion. The 10,000 reward has been set up by Fred Lau, S.F. Chief of Police, with the assistance of police officers Randy Caturay and Rey Ibay and the President of the Outer Mission Residents Association, Steven Currier, in conjunction with the Mayor's office. |

| Located at Geneva and San Jose Avenues is one of the district's two
historical City landmarks known as the Geneva Car Barn, the other is Balboa High
School. The Geneva Car Barn is presently owned by MUNI who has proposed that it be
demolished to make way for additional employee and LRV parking. Five neighborhood
associations within the district oppose MUNI's proposal. Visit the site by clicking
on the key word to the left. As of 07/19/1999 - community members from the Outer Mission Residents Association, (Steven Currier - President), Ocean View-Merced-Ingleside Community in Action Association, (Dan Weaver - Member), and New Mission Terrace Association, (Tony Sacco - President) have been spearheading a project to save and restore the landmark which has been ordered to be "shored up" by the S.F. Transportation Commission. Persistent efforts and lobbying by Steven Currier, President of the Outer Mission Residents Association, with the assistance of Dan Weaver and Tony Sacco led to the historical landmark being saved. Mayor Brown has subsequently endorsed the saving and restoration of the landmark. Further information discovered to date indicates that the money allocated thus far by MUNI to "shore up the building" could be better used in fixing the foundation and provide cosmetic work which would in the long run be less expensive in regards to the building's restoration process. We urge MUNI to fix the foundation and conduct cosmetic work in lieu of "shoring up the building". The correction to the foundation should basically accomplish the same results of "shoring up the building". |
